Australian sports betting operator PointsBet has cleared the last regulatory hurdle needed to begin offering it's unique style of betting to residents of the Centennial State. PointsBet is one of 31 companies to have been awarded a sports betting license by the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission.

Since sports betting became legally regulated in Colorado by a November 19 public vote, the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission (CLGCC) has awarded 31 sports betting licenses to betting operators. One of the most recent to be awarded a sports betting license in Colorado is PointsBet, and Australian gambling operator who was awarded a sports betting license by the CLGCC on March 19.

Mile High Sports reports that receiving the betting license was the final legal hurdle the company faced before being able to legally accept sports bets within the state of Colorado. PointsBet, the fantasy sports operator turned sports betting rock star, is expected to set new standards in how to excite sports fans across the state.

Colorado Sports Betting Licenses

There are multiple classifications of sports betting licenses available in Colorado. The two most popular are a Master Sports Betting License and an Internet Sports Betting License.

The Master License is primarily utilized by terrestrial casino locations that are adding a walk-up retail sports betting aspect to their existing casino business. The Master License comes with all of the provisions as an Internet license, allowing retail betting operators to extend their borders across the state.

An Internet Sports Betting License in Colorado is designed for betting operators who will only process wagers through a website or mobile app. You must still be partnered with a licensed casino in order for your license to be compliant with state law, but no retail betting opportunities are included.

Abundance of Betting Options

PointsBet joins a number of other well respected brands in their bid for a share of the Colorado sports betting market, including DraftKings, William Hill, Fox Bet and theScore Bet.

With this many world-class betting operations all located in the same market, residents of the Centennial State can expect a generous helping of welcome bonuses and other promotions to help welcome sports betting to the state.

The only question remaining is when will be sports to bet on. The COVID-19 pandemic has most sports suspended until the crisis is over.
